After many years experiencing similar challenges in technology, government, and commercial markets, we recognized a fundamental need to improve how organizations leveraged public data to make decisions. Available technology didn’t offer simplified access to public data nor did it help generate meaning and context for data consumed from disparate public sources. This left leaders with insights drawn from within siloed environments.
In 2019, our team emerged, bringing together experts in our respective domains, to form General Commission. We understand there is an enormous amount of information across the world, yet most people and organizations are still consistently misinformed and make decisions based on blind faith and we aim to change that by making public data more accessible and manageable. We pledge to make access to this data simpler and empower organizations to look outside their own four walls for necessary insights. And we believe that by doing so, we can do our part to help make the world more informed and knowledgeable.
Our goal is to broaden the aperture for how organizations think about and manage public data. We believe data, particularly public data, harnessed in the right way, has the power to transform how people and organizations live and operate, and impact the world for the greater good.
